Meet Our Teachers

PEG KOLLER

Peg spent most of her younger life riding race horses at Belmont Park, and so, in a fateful way,  she first found Ashtanga Yoga after she was almost killed in bad fall from a race horse. The slow and building practice of ashtanga enabled her to heal so well and so quickly, both physically and mentally, that she was back riding her first race horse just 6 weeks after the original fall.  She was even more drawn to the practice then, starting her studies in earnest soon after, and since has been able to study with remarkable teachers such as Manju Jois, David Swenson, Doug Swenson, Caroline Klebl and Danicia Ambron. She studies primarily today with Christopher Hildebrandt, who she is lucky to call both a teacher and a friend, and has also traveled to Mysore India in 2008 to study with Sri K Pattabhi Jois. Today she is humbled and honored to be named on the teacher's list of his son, Manju Jois.  Peg is also a registered ERYT with Yoga Alliance, having completed the qualifications for that at Yoga Sutra in NYC. She opened Yoga Yama in January of 2003, and since has had the joy of watching it grow into a place of vital energy, education and peace. Her biggest hope is that Yoga Yama continues to add light, education, and that  powerful healing that she used so many years ago, to this world, today.
